‘’How to stay strong in the MeToo movement’’

When I first came to the South with my fiance Anton, little did I know that I would be surrounded by racists, sexists and rednecks. Growing up in a country where you met just sexists made me stronger as a female and I’ve learned to stand up for myself. Every day whether I was in a store or at work I tried to prove to males that I could do the same things as them. Some laughed, some took me seriously, but most of them didn’t care.
Since the movement started and after working countless jobs and making connections in a town
I lived in, I’ve learned how to keep my cool when no one wanted to listen to me. Whenever guys and
even some females were laughing when I said I could do any other men’s work, like carrying heavy
items or painting entire house, I did my best to keep a straight face. I talked about feminism as if I
was telling the crowd a funny story with a smile on my face. Selective few became my friends, who
wanted to know more about the ‘’MeToo’’ movement and how it influenced my life.
Every passing day since more women are standing up for themselves and learning to be a part of
something bigger than themselves, it helps me greatly and I want to participate in marches and
protests. I want to be there for support and to blow ignorant people’s minds with all the information.
I had to practice mindfulness every day, just to stay calm and not hit anyone or burst out crying in
front of ignorant people, who didn’t have the capacity to understand simplest things.
It takes guts, patience and time to prove to people that men and female are equal, they are both
same species, both have the same body parts, have jobs and families to take care of. However,
some people’s opinions can’t be changed and I felt sorry for them.
In conclusion, don’t stay mad at people who would never understand your opinions and views,
take action when you feel that you’ve been harassed at work, because we only have one life, so
we better make it worth it!
